"8 Simple things to know about Kaley"
She loves Petey
#1- "Petey's like my son," say Kaley, Proudly showing off the chihuahua dachshund-mix dog she rescued from a shelter. "I just have to say this to everybody: Please adopt your animal. It's so important and dogs will be your best friend." Petey goes every with Kaley almost everywhere and is getting used to the spotlight. He even guest-starred in an episode of 8 simple rules. "He's like my kid and i brag about him constantly. if he could talk, he'd pobably say, 'Mom, stop putting me in outfits.' I dress him up all the time."
Miss popularity?
#2- This 17 year old has been acting since she was 8 years old, but people are now taking notice and stopping her on the street and in the malls. Only problem: "People perceive me as Bridget," laughs the down-to-earth actress. "Bridget is the popular girl and she loves herself so much. I've been homeschooled since seventh grade, so it's fun to play that popular girl in school and have all the guys want you. It's fun to pretend and play snotty and there's no harm in that, but thank god i'm not really like Bridget."
Sibling rivalry
#3- If the squabbels between Brudget and Kerry on 8 Simple Rules seem real, it may be because Kaley draws from her real life with younger sis Briana. "It's practically identical," Kaley laughs. "It's a love-hate relationship, absolutely. We're always getting on each other's nerves!" Briana isn't exactly following in her sister's footsteps---instead of acting she prefers dance and music, "I have this feeling she wants to be the next Britney Spears, and im all for it."
Game,set,match
#4- Kaley may have started acting at a young age, but she's been playing tennis since she was 3 years old! She was even nationally ranked and competing around the country when she landed the job on 8 Simple Rules. "I was auditioning and playing tennis, and that's impossible. You van't do [both] forever," she says. Thats when she gave up competion. "I chose to go this path for my career. I definitely made the right decision." But with the show on summer vacation, Kaley's looking forward to getting back on the tennis court with friends. "No tournaments, no pressure, just going out, getting great exercise and being in the sunshine."
Summer in the sun
#5- This summer you'll also find Kaley running, hiking and spending time with Petey in the dog park next to her family's home near Los Andeles. "I'm not a fan of the beach because i just hate to feel like there's sand in my swimsuit," she admits. "I love to be next to the pool." Kaley's favorite vacation spot is Las Vegas, where she spends time at Mandalay Bay pool--which is built to look like a beach! "Pretend ocean, bring it on!"
Like mother like daughter
#6- Talent runs in the Cuoco family, starting with mom, Layne. "She did a lot of modeling when she was younger" says a proud Kaley, now a second-generation cover girl. "She did Vogue and all that kind of stuff." Still, Kaley discovered acting on her own. "My parents didn't push me into the busniess. It was mostly me. Once i started working more and more, my parents finally did sit me down and say, 'This is now a serious job, so do you really wanna do this?' I said yes because i just absolutely love it."
Like father, like John
#7- Kaley's parents are happily married just like ther TV folks. "They are so in love and such and inspiration," she says. And there are other similarities between her real life and the show. "My dad (Gary) is Just so much like [TV dad] John Ritter, it scares me! John always has to know who im going out with and he wants to meet him first. My dad told him, "Thank you, John, for watching out for her on the set 'cause I sure can't watch out for her at home. She's never there!' So I have two sets of parents and that's a nice feeling."
Who needs a guy?
#8- Kaley's two dads have a little to worry about when it comes to boys. After a two-year relationship with a fellow tennis player ended, this teen spent the past year healing a broken heart. "I could still cry about it if I let myself, but that's being a girl and so ridiculously emotional," she admits. "I'm totally 100 percent single right now and loveing that--taking a long break from myself and experiencing friends and other people, and not being so exclusive with one person," But really, when Petey's in the picrure, who needs a guy?
